COVID-19: 579 new cases in Poland, active cases continue to fall

The Health Ministry announced 579 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 2,871,950 including 159,990 still active. The number of active cases decreased from 162,327 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 56 new fatalities, of which 23 were due to COVID-19 alone and 33 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 73,738.

According to the ministry, 73,205 people are quarantined and 2,638,222 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 159,990 active cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Poland.

A total of 19,807,955 people have been vaccinated so far, including 13,580,235 with the first dose and 6,786,561 with the second dose or the J&J vaccine.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 707 out of 2,383 available.

As of Sunday morning, as many as 170,658,316 coronavirus cases, 3,549,466 deaths and 152,642,247 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 34,035,318 , India has the second most with 27,894,800 cases and Brazil third with 16,471,600
