Polish FM meets with EU’s foreign ministries in Lisbon

The main topics of the EU foreign ministers meetings in Lisbon were the conflicts in the EU’s eastern border, EU-African relations and the EU’s strategy for the Indo-Pacific region.

“Our eastern neighbours’ unresolved conflicts are the result of Russia’s actions that oppose independence and European aspirations of its neighbors,” Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said. He also called for the intensification of EU support for the reform of the security sector and the construction of a cybersecurity infrastructure.

The minister emphasised that in the long term, the success of reforms in partner countries may contribute to the resolution of conflicts, which require ambitious Eastern Partnership policy and reconciliation between societies. He declared that Poland would support the necessary cooperation between the EU and the OSCE in this area, during Poland’s chairmanship of the OSCE.

Regarding EU-African relations strategy, the head of Polish diplomacy argued that it was necessary to tighten cooperation between continents in the areas of trade, investment promotion and fair climate transition.

In a conversation with the head of diplomacy of Jordan, Minister Rau said that a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the coexistence of two states, requires the political will of both sides.
