Polish economy to recover to its pre-pandemic level in early 2022

Poland should return to its pre-pandemic GDP levels in early 2022 despite the lockdowns in the country and in the EU’s major economies, Beata Javorcik, the chief economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), told Obserwator Finansowy website.

Her statement confirmed the EBRD growth forecasts issued for Poland in autumn 2020.

Javorcik added that a policy of swift and strong monetary easing implemented by the National Bank of Poland (NBP), and an asset purchase programme contributed to mitigating the negative impact of the pandemic on the Polish economy.

“It shows that the Polish central bank has made good use of the experience gained by other central banks during the global financial crisis,” Obserwator Finansowy quoted Javorcik.
