COVID-19: drive-thru vaccination points from April 15, official says

Pilot drive-thru vaccination points will be launched on April 15, followed by general vaccination points on April 20 and vaccinations by individual rescuers and nurses from April 23, the PM’s Office (KPRM) head Michał Dworczyk announced on Thursday.

The official stressed that these activities would be carried out in pilot mode. “We’re at the preparation stage today. We are preparing the infrastructure, procedures, and complete organisational solutions, although we cannot use them 100 percent. Why is that? It is because we are still lacking vaccines. However, we have prepared ourselves so that once vaccines arrive in Poland… we will immediately initiate the vaccination of the largest possible number of people,” he added.

On Thursday, the Health Ministry announced 27,887 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 2,499,507 including 366,344 still active. The number of active cases increased from 361,217 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 954 new fatalities, of which 241 were due to COVID-19 alone and 713 from COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 56,659.

Moreover, a total of 7,000,072 people have been vaccinated so far in Poland, including 4,909,987 who have received one dose and 2,090,085 who have been inoculated twice.
