Polish companies successful in Mongolia: report

“Polish companies are successfully implementing their export plans in Mongolia. Food products are of great interest [there],” Bat-Erdene Boldbaatar, the head of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency’s (PAIH) office in Ulan Bator, the capital of the Far-East country assessed.

In its Monday’s statement, PAIH called the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sector in Mongolia “an interesting alternative to traditional, nearest markets” for Polish companies.

“The high probability of success is confirmed by subsequent Polish-Mongolian business contracts, which PAIH reports about on an ongoing basis. Due to the pandemic, the demand for imported food, including vegetables and fruit, has increased in this Asian country,” the statement reads.

“Polish companies are successfully implementing their export plans in Mongolia. Food products are primarily of great interest [there]. It is worth adding that for many years, Poland has been the second largest exporter from the EU to Mongolia,” Mr Boldbaatar pointed out, quoted as saying in the release.

He also emphasised that before the pandemic, the export of Polish products had reached a record level of almost USD 65 mln.

According to PAIH, the FMCG market in Mongolia is estimated at approximately USD 1 bn. The main categories of imported products are vegetables and fruits, vegetable oils, sugar, eggs, pork and poultry, powdered milk, chocolate and sweets, soft and alcoholic drinks.

“This is an opportunity for Polish producers. The Mongols associate our products with high European quality,” the statement stressed.

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency is an advisory institution operating in cooperation with the Polish Development Fund Group under the leadership of the Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology.
