NATO: Meetings of ministers of foreign affairs on March 23rd

The transatlantic partnership remains the cornerstone of our collective defence, NATO foreign ministers participating in the meeting in Brussels wrote. They also added that Russia’s aggressive actions pose a threat to Euro-Atlantic security.

“Russia’s aggressive actions pose a threat to Euro-Atlantic security. Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains a constant threat to all of us. Assertive and authoritarian forces and non-state actors challenge the rules-based international order, through hybrid and cyber threats, hostile use of new technologies as well as other asymmetric threats,” said a statement released on Tuesday.

“The COVID-19 pandemic once again demonstrates that we are facing ever-changing challenges; we will continue to ensure that our defence readiness and operational effectiveness are maintained throughout this crisis,” announced the ministers.

“NATO is a defence alliance and poses no threat to any country. In response to a more dangerous and unpredictable security environment, we are significantly strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence capabilities (…) We welcome the efforts of all allies in Europe and North America that contribute to our indivisible security. We must do and will do even more,” concluded the ministers.

NATO remains the strongest military alliance in history, guaranteeing the freedom of a billion people, territorial integrity and the protection of values.
