The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has issues an unambiguous opinion that the Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 is safe, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on Facebook on Friday.

On Thursday, EMA Executive Director Emer Cooke announced that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective and that its advantage in terms of protecting people from Covid-19 outweigh the risks. At the same time, she said that the EMA intends to further research reports of blood clots related to use of the vaccine.

Morawiecki appealed to the public to protect themselves and their loved ones by registering for vaccination. He wrote that “we are at a particularly difficult moment, hence the EMA’s information was important.”

“I encourage everybody who qualifies to make use of the opportunity and get vaccinated – every dose of the vaccine, regardless of from which producer, is a step in the right direction,” he wrote. “The safety of us all depends on it.”

Since the EMA’s announcement, many of the countries that had discontinued use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, including France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Bulgaria, said they would return to its use.
