US B-1B bomber visit in Poland: #StrongerTogether

The mission of the American B-1B Bomber confirms the USA’s continued readiness to respond to potential crises in our region, wrote the head of the Ministry of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak.

The landing of the B1-B bomber in Poland shows the harmonisation of Polish and US troops, which together guard stability and freedom in the region – the US embassy wrote on Twitter.

“For the first time, the B-1B Bomber of the US Air Force landed in Poland for the so-called + hot pit refueling +, which was carried out for the first time in Europe. It was escorted by Polish F-16s” – the US embassy wrote on Twitter.

On Friday, the deputy commander of the US Air Force in Europe and Africa, Lieutenant General Steven Basham, visited the 33rd Transport Aviation Base in Powidz (Wielkopolska Voivodeship), where the “hot pit refuelling” of the American B-1B strategic bomber was carried out, by refuelling the plane without shutting down the engines. The bomber flew from a base in Norway and, after refuelling, took off for a further flight.

The 33rd Transport Aviation Base in Powidz has the largest military airport in Poland, which is used by, i.a. Polish and American crews of C-130 Hercules transport aircraft participating in joint training. US Army helicopters are also stationed in Powidz.
