“Remembrance and Identity” National Culture Festival available online

The “Remembrance and Identity” National Culture Festival is an initiative aimed at building and strengthening the sense of national identity of Poles, promoted on Telewizja Polska and on the TVP VOD platform.

The President of TVP, Jacek Kurski pointed out, “we survived 1,000 years as a country, because we had a strong culture and this is a great mission of public television to refer to those elements that build community, build Polishness, build our identity, also pride, immersing in culture and hence the idea of ​​this festival, the idea of ​​the festival of national culture.”

Nearly 450 hours of identity content and 100 festival productions produced or co-produced by a public broadcaster will be available for free.

The name of the event refers to the title of the last book-interview of the Polish Pope St. John Paul II, the subject of which is a man – a witness to the events of the 20th century, searching for his identity in a meeting with God and the meaning of the words “Homeland”, “Nation”, “Europe”.

The first edition of the Festival will be held in 2021 on-line from February 22 to March 1. Qualified productions, made between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020 will be made available in the following categories: film and feature series, film and documentary series, theater, reconstruction, concert and spectacle, St. John Paul II’s heritage.

The ceremonial gala, broadcast on the internet and on TVP, will be held on the National Day of Remembrance of the Cursed Soldiers on March 1, 2021.

The productions are awarded with Gold and Platinum Gorget statuettes – referring to memorabilia of fallen national heroes.
