No reason to postpone exams as it stands: deputy Education Min

As we speak, if nothing extraordinary happens, we do not see any reasons to postpone or cancel the primary and high school graduation exams, said the deputy Minister of Education and Science Dariusz Piontkowski.

“At the moment, we are preparing for the mock graduation exams in primary and high schools. Educational facilities which would like to partake in it, have such a possibility, said the deputy minister,” adding that schools have experience from last year of conducting exams under the sanitary regime.

We hoped that if there was a reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases, it would be possible to enable more grades to return to learning in classrooms. It seems obvious that it is the graduation classes’ students, as well as the fourth graders who have just completed initial education under a single teacher that need it the most,” said Mr Piontkowski.

“At least we would like the current state to be maintained, and if it is possible, for some years to return to hybrid learning,” he added.

According to the current exams schedule, in the school year 2020/2021, matura exams will start on May 4. Written papers will run until May 20, while oral exams until May 21. The spare date for written matura exams is from June 1 to 16, and the spare date for oral matura exams is June 7-8. The retake exams will be held on August 24.
