Securing a seat in the European Parliament will provide Polish politicians with hefty financial rewards, the PolskaTimes.pl newspaper has reported.
The monthly income for Eurodeputies can reach PLN 40,000 (EUR 9,300, USD 10,400) — four times as much as members of the Polish parliament can expect to receive, according to the paper.
The daily headlined its article “Returning from Brussels to Poland as millionaires.”
The average gross Polish monthly wage in March this year was PLN 5,164 (EUR 1,209, USD 1,368), according to the country’s Central Statistical Office.
Polish voters go to the ballot box to elect their representatives to the European Parliament on Sunday.
