At the end of the second quarter of this year, about 40.2 million payment cards were issued in Poland, the country’s Central Bank said.
This included 31.7 million debit cards, 5.9 million credit cards, and 2.45 million prepaid cards, the National Bank of Poland (NBP) said.
Almost 82 percent of all these cards were contactless, according to the Polish central bank.
The overall number of cards in circulation nationwide at the end of June was 1.7 percent higher than at the end of March, the NBP reported.
