Polish airline says it will seek compensation over strike threat

The carrier will demand compensation from the trade unions, said the representative of LOT Adrian kubicki.

“We have seen a significant drop in ticket sales,” Kubicki told reporters, adding: “People are simply afraid of buying tickets.”

Kubicki said a strike would be illegal.

He added that on Friday a Warsaw court ruled the strike should not go ahead pending a decision on whether a referendum by unions on industrial action was legal.

Monika Żelazik, the head of the largest trade union at LOT, said last week that the strike decision came after more than three years of negotiations with the airline over pay.
