Unemployment in Poland falls: labour minister

Unemployment in Poland fell to 6.8 percent in February, down 0.1 percentage point from January, the country’s labour minister said on Wednesday.

Joblessness in February was 1.6 percentage points down on the same month last year.

The number of unemployed at the end of last month stood at 1.13 million.

Family, Labour and Social Policy Minister Elżbieta Rafalska said she expected a further fall in joblessness in the months ahead.

Joblessness in Poland fell to 6.5 percent in November, the lowest in the last 25 years, inching up to 6.9 percent in January from 6.6 percent in December, according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).
