Polish bus maker delivers on Italian contract

Poland’s Solaris Bus & Coach company says it has delivered 12 electric buses to a transport firm in Bergamo, northern Italy.

The vehicles are the first of their kind delivered by the Polish company to Italy.

The Polish manufacturer said that next month, another 10 Urbino electric vehicles would be delivered to a firm in the Italian city of Milan. Up to now, Solaris has delivered nearly 850 vehicles to Italy.

Solaris said last year it sold 1,400 vehicles in 2017, the best annual result in its history.

The Polish manufacturer produces buses, trolleybuses and trams, mostly for buyers abroad. To date it has delivered over 16,000 vehicles to 32 countries around the world.

The company’s main products include city, suburban and intercity buses, in addition to innovative hybrid electric buses.

Solaris employs roughly 2,300 people in Poland and an additional 300 in its foreign branches.

The company produces vehicles in four factories in west-central Poland.
