Polish-Hungarian trade hits record high

Trade between Poland and Hungary reached its highest level in 2015, and maintained an upward trend in the first months of this year. The commercial exchange between the two countries totaled some EUR 8 bn last year, statistics presented by the Polish embassy in Budapest show.

“Polish-Hungarian economic relations are excellent,” says Michał Andrukonis, the head of the embassy’s department of politics and economy.

Another representative of the Polish diplomatic mission to Hungary, Edyta Janus, in charge of trade promotion and investment, said that bilateral trade in 2015 grew by seven percent compared to the previous year.

Poland’s exports to the country reached EUR 4.5 bn in 2015 and rose by 11 percent year-on-year. Polish products making their way to Hungary include machinery, electronic devices, vehicles and base metal products.

Hungary, meanwhile, mainly exports machines, mechanical appliances, synthetic materials and light industry products to Poland.
