Poles at World Youth Days

A Polish contingent of 3,500 people will be the largest national group from Europe taking part in the World Youth Days, which are to start in Panama on 22 January.

Poland is the only country to organize charter flights for the pilgrims by LOT Polish Airlines. The first of them, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring a white-and-red livery to commemorate the centenary of Poland’s regained independence, left Warsaw on Saturday.

The Polish group includes over 300 volunteers and 150 scouts – members of the event’s medical services. Meetings with Pope Francis will also be attended by 11 Polish bishops.
