World-famous violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter will perform in Warsaw on Friday in the finale of a festival celebrating the music of Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki.
Penderecki, considered by many as one of the world’s greatest living composers, celebrates his 85th birthday on Friday.
Penderecki will himself conduct a concert at the Wielki Theatre/National Opera in Warsaw featuring Mutter as a soloist.
The festival has seen performances of symphonic and chamber music concerts giving a cross-section of Penderecki’s creative output over six decades.
Penderecki’s oeuvre includes symphonic and chamber music, concertos, large-scale vocal-and-instrumental works and operas.
