Literary fest in Warsaw

Among the attractions of the great book festival in Warsaw are meetings with writers from 20 countries, lectures, debates and a multimedia performance.

The annual event, now in its sixth year, opens on Friday runs until Sunday.

One of the festival’s stars will be American writer Annie Proulx, whose 1993 novel The Shipping News won both the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and the US National Book Award for fiction.

It was adapted as a film starring Kevin Spacey and Julianne Moore. Proulx’s short story Brokeback Mountain was adapted as a major movie directed by Ang Lee.

Other guests of the festival include French detective novel author Michel Bussi and Czech writer Petra Hulova.
