There were 4.5 percent more foreign tourists in Poland last year than in 2016, according to the figures released by the Polish Tourism Agency (POT).
The result makes Poland the 20th most visited country in the world, the daily said. Poland came ahead of countries such as Hungary, Croatia and the Czech Republic in the ranking.
Improved flight connections have caused an upswing in the number of tourists travelling from China (54.5 percent), Israel (49.7 percent) and South Korea (18.2 percent), India and the United States.
Poland is currently experiencing a tourism boom, the head of the organisation, Robert Andrzejczyk, said.
“We carried out a number of successful promotional campaigns which resulted in a boost in tourist numbers in Poland,” he added.
A poll carried out among tourists found that 96 percent of foreigners were satisfied with their stay in Poland, while 85 percent declared they would return to the country in the near future, the organisation said.
