Polish composer to be buried in Warsaw

Polish pianist and composer Zbigniew Łapiński is to be laid to rest in Warsaw on Wednesday.

He died from lung cancer on April 2 at the age of 70.

After a funeral Mass, he will be laid to rest alongside other famous Poles at Warsaw’s Powązki cemetery.

Łapiński collaborated with famous Polish performers including singer, lyricist and poet Jacek Kaczmarski, dubbed the bard of the Solidarity anti-communist opposition movement.

In 2006 then-President Lech Kaczyński awarded Łapiński the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
