Polish actress Agata Buzek appears alongside celebrities such as Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche in High Life, an upcoming sci-fi film by director Claire Denis.
The movie, which is scheduled to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May, is an international production to which the Polish Film Institute has contributed PLN 1.5 million (around EUR 360,000, USD 440,000) in funds, according to the onet.pl news service.
The film, announced as a science-fiction adventure drama, focuses on a group of convicts sent on a space mission.
Pattinson and Binoche play the main characters. Buzek, 31, has been cast in a supporting role.
The Polish actress is a daughter of former Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek.
Pattinson is a Hollywood actor known from the cult movie series Twilight and films by David Cronenberg, while Binoche is a French actress known for her roles in productions including Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Blue, the first installment of his Three Colours trilogy.
High Life was shot partly on location near the eastern Polish city of Białystok by a production crew including Polish cinematographer Tomasz Naumiuk, set designer Mela Melak, and makeup artist Marcin Rodak.
Claire Denis is a French director and writer whose previous work includes films such as Beau Travail (1999), Friday Night (2002), The Intruder (2004) and White Material (2009).
